ALBUM OF THE MOMENT (The winner is....)

There you have it. The album of the moment at this present time is none other than Bombay Bicycle Club's (BBC's) debut album "I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose".

How did I come across this album then you ask?

Strumming on with it..

Ever get that feeling to get stuck into something after hearing a story about that said thing?

It happened to me earlier this afternoon. Friend of mine (Jamie) randomly hopped into an msn conversation and suggested a song i check out. A song that could prove fairly simple chord wise for me to learn and play. The song in question was "9 Crimes" by Damien Rice. Check it out below

Probably doesn't sound too simple to the normal ear but after looking up the chords it's enticed me slightly. It's about time i got stuck into this guitar thing instead of just playing casually every now and then. I still have an old guitar tutor card in my wallet. I've been meaning to email him for weeks now but have never got round to it. Come payday on thursday shall i take the plunge? It's a possibility.

How to make it in america

Just came across a new show that has sparked my interest somehow. If you don't know it already, i'm always browsing around the net looking for something new to watch and get into. With Lost coming to an end very soon, i'll need other TV interests of course.

The show i've found is called "How To Make It In America". I've watched the pilot so far (though i have the next two episodes ready to watch)

It revolves around two 20-something guys called Ben (Bryan Greeberg) and Cam (Victor Rasuk) You might recognise Greenberg from earlier seasons of One Tree Hill, that's where i know him from anyway. This pair of industrious friends though are very business minded. Trying anything to earn a quick buck and become a success. All so they can live the American Dream. Easy to get into right? Was for me anyway.

The show comes courtesy of Entourage creators Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg. I've caught a little bit of Entourage a while back, it was always one of those shows that looked good to me but i just didn't find the time to fully watch. HTMIIA though is where i shall start. I won't give anything away but expect a bit of fun and drama aswell as confusion and laughs. It even stars Finch from the American Pie films, Mr Eddie Kay Thomas. That's a bonus right there.

Editors Gig Thoughts

There's the man himself Tom Smith. (The guy on the stage of course)

First of all, what a gig! Still find it hard to put it to words but they were so genuinely awesome live. Started off the set with the title track from their latest album "In this light and on this evening". They then of course blurted out some of the old classics too, including the majority of my favourites, Munich, Lights, Blood, Bullets, Racing Rats, Smokers outside the hospital doors.. They really did play the majority of the songs i wanted to hear. Even finished off nicely with "Fingers in the factory" Without a doubt, one of their best tracks. If you have me added on facebook, i've put all the photos i managed to get into an album. If you haven't got me added click here to see the album.

I'll leave you with a bit of rough footage i recorded on my mobile. It is OF COURSE, the one and only Munich, LIVE! Was fantastic.

Please be patient if the video doesn't work, it will eventually :)

BRINK- Cinematic Trailer

How badass do those guys look?
The better question though is, who the hell are they?
Well as far as i know they are 3 of many customizable variations of characters from upcoming FPS "Brink".
Not just any old FPS as far as video has revealed. It promises to revolutionize the genre of FPS.

According to Publisher "Bethesda Softworks" and Developers "Splash Damage" the game is as follows.

"Brink™ is an immersive shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character across all modes of play. You decide the role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge for humanity. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more."

What's the story then you ask? Read on below.

"A man-made floating city called the Ark, made up of hundreds of separate floating islands, is on the brink of all-out civil war. Originally built as an experimental self-sufficient and 100% “green” habitat, the reported rapid rise of the Earth’s oceans has forced the Ark to become a refuge for humanity.  Crammed with the original Ark founders, their descendants, as well as tens of thousands of refugees, the Ark exists in total isolation from the rest of the world. With 25 years of social unrest, the inhabitants of the Ark have reached their breaking point. It’s up to you to decide the future of the Ark and the human race."

If that wasn't enough to intrigue you then take a look at this cinematic trailer recently released. I'd personally describe it as..WOW!

The games set for a Fall 2010 release. Said to be around about September. I have it pre-ordered already.

EDITORS GIG

It's all happening tomorrow night. I'll finally be admiring one of my favourite bands live, in my hometown of all places, Dundee.

Their playing in Fat Sams tomorrow (11th March) and to be honest i'm struggling for words right now to describe exactly how i'm feeling about it all.

Battlefield - Bad Company 2 REVIEW

The frostbite is back i'm afraid. But fear not for it's not a bad thing at all.

EA and DICE have finally let us free on their masterpiece Bad Company 2.
I've been one of the many fans literally wasting days away since it was released. The previous game was quite something but this one takes war to a whole new level, that's my way of thinking at least. I sneakily got it a day early from GAME having had it pre-ordered well in advance. I slipped it in on morning one and found myself killing things and blowing up objectives in no time at all.

Along with all the fun it brought, it did however bring a bit of anger (Not majorly in my case but with friends) EA had a massive server problem and surfaced a massive rush win of their own. No crates were harmed in the process making them pretty damn good defenders.
The servers are thankfully back up now without a hitch as far as i can see. So what exactly has brought me to Bad Company for a second stint you ask?

The beginning of the end!

Remember these guys?
Of course you do. If you don't then where the hell have you been the past 6 years?

This is of course the original cast of the worldwide tv phenomenon "LOST". It did indeed begin all the way back in 2004. I believe i had not long left school and had started college. I remember it fondly from a cinema advert. Don't ask me what the film was i went to see but i distinctly remember the channel 4 advert featuring these random strangers wandering around on a beach.

One of us is a conman? One of us is a doctor? One of us is a criminal?

Those little statements ran through my head for days afterwards. What the hell was this show? and what was it all about?

JOIN ME

It cunningly arrived in my post Saturday past along with its younger brother "Friends Like These". If you're wondering what i mean by younger brother then have a good little think about it and get back to me!

Anyways, yeah, "Join Me" is, believe it or not, only the 4th book I currently have in my ever-growing collection. It's once again written by Danny Wallace, who also wrote the book i finished a month or so back, "Yes Man". However this book was actually released before "Yes Man" so in a convenient way, story wise, it's actually a prequel to "Yes Man". If you haven't read "Yes Man" yet then you won't have a clue what i'm about to ramble on about but in it, Danny talk about an ex-girlfriend "Hanne". Well in "Join Me" he's actually still with "Hanne" so it's an interesting little look at what actually went wrong with them in a way. As you read you'll gather exactly what went wrong. I'm roughly about a third of the way through the book and already have a clear picture of what the reason may be.

Back to the main point though, "Join Me" as you could probably guess, revolves around an incident Danny found himself in at one point in his life. He stumbles across news of a family member's death then stumbles further over a venture said family member embarked on at one point in his life. In order to pay tribute to the family member, he takes it upon himself to fulfill this venture to its true potential, essentially creating his grand scheme "Join Me".

I won't ramble on about it anymore. If it sounds interesting enough to you at this point then you'll be sure to check it out right?

Being the slow reader that I am, i've suprised myself with this one. I'm getting through it at a decent pace. I usually read a couple of chapters a night with a few days in between those nights so i'm glad i've found potential in this story to keep me interested more than i'd usually be. Once i'm done with it i'll most likely start reading "Friends Like These". Something that sounds just as fun as this. I'll get to that at a later stage though.

I purchased "Join Me" along with "Friends Like These" HERE (for the lovely price of £5 each.)
